Description:

Vim provides an enhanced and expanded version of the "vi" Unix editor. Available for a variety of operating systems, it offers the powerful editing capabilities of vi, but adds numerous additional features ranging from an undo command to a built in scripting language.

 

Although useful for any sort of text editing, Vim provides extra utility for programmers. It includes over 200 syntax files supporting highlighted text for programming languages, and can function as an entire Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
