Description:

The SOA component of Apache Tuscany requires that different types of data work together, making application development complex. This is where Service Data Object (SDO) comes. Implemented in Java, C++ and PHP, SDO is a very simple programming model that addresses this issue. SDO provides:

  • Uniform access to data from heterogeneous sources which could be XML, RDB, POJO, SOAP, etc.
  • Both a static (or strongly typed) programming model and a dynamic (or loosely typed) programming model. This provides a simple programming model without sacrificing the dynamic model needed by tools and frameworks.
  • Meta-data for easy introspection of data types.
  • Support for a disconnected model in which data can be retrieved from a data source via Data Access Service.
  • A programming model that is language neutral.
