Description:

The Jakarta-ORO Java classes are a set of text-processing Java classes that provide Perl5 compatible regular expressions, AWK-like regular expressions, glob expressions, and utility classes for performing substitutions, splits, filtering filenames, etc. This library is the successor to the OROMatcher, AwkTools, PerlTools, and TextTools libraries originally from ORO, Inc. Despite little activity in the form of new development initiatives, issue reports, questions, and suggestions are responded to quickly.

As of 2010-09-01, the ORO project is retired. No further ORO development or releases will happen at Jakarta.

License Notes: The original OROMatcher project (https://olex-secure.openlogic.com/packages/oromatcher), was under the OROMatcher License. Once the project was donated to the ASF, the license was changed to Apache 1.1 for versions 2.x

Usage Notes:

Maven uses ORO and other Java-based open source projects. It is particularly useful for Java code written before JDK 1.4, and recommended when using the Ant ReplaceRegExp task. Use ORO when you need a regular expression package to search for and modify text.
