Version 5.0.91 is a security update with three security fixes. They include:

A repair ensuring the server checks the table name argument of a COM_FIELD_LIST command packet for validity and for compliance to acceptable table name standards. This vulnerability could have been used in previous versions to bypass nearly all checks for privileges and table-level grants.
A repair to a buffer-overflow vulnerability, which is due to a failure to perform bounds checking on the table name argument of a COM_FIELD_LIST command packet.
A repair to a vulnerability that tricks the server into reading packets indefinitely if it receives a packet larger than the maximum size of one packet.

Several issues causing server crashes have also been resolved, along with other bugs.
