Version 5.0.77 contains important security fixes, numerous bug fixes, and several improvements. Among them:

Additional security fixes have been applied to the symlink-related privilege problem originally addressed in MySQL 5.0.60.
The plugin_dir system variable has been backported from MySQL 5.1 to better control from where user-defined functions can be loaded.
A correction has been made to the server’s consumption of excess memory while parsing statements with numerous nested boolean conditions, which could lead to a server crash.
A fix has been applied to obsolete debug code causing server crashes during debug builds.
A new status variable has been added.
Index hints now work for FULLTEXT searches.
