A Java framework that provides data binding services for XML and SQL, the Castor project supports an interface similar to JDO (Java Data Objects). Unfortunately, its JDO implementation predates Sun's and consequently is incompatible. The project provides Java-to-XML binding and Java-to-SQL persistence.

As of release 0.9.7, any new code artifacts carry a new, Apache 2.0-style license notice, while the project code is still under the Castor License. Downloads will include both license notices. See http://www.castor.org/license.html

Usage Notes:

Use Castor to load, modify, and save XML documents based on XML Schema Definitions. Given a sample XML document, it can generate both an XML Schema Definition and Java source able to read and write any XML document based on the schema.
